ABOUT THE ARTIST

Ruth Wolff

I am a visual artist, born and educated in Israel where I studied fine art and commercial art. After military service, I did an art apprenticeship and learned relief work. I used this experience commercially, creating decorative relief inlays for a furniture architect in Israel.

I immigrated to the United States from Israel to join my family in Philadelphia, and after a year I moved to NYC, the Big Apple to pursue my artistic interests. I studied ceramics at Hunter College, With the intention to produce useful art for everyday life. Later, I attended The Art Students League of New York to master sculpture. My drawings and relief work are inspired by sculptures and I intend at one point to cast these in three dimensions.

After taking time to make a living and raise my daughter, I moved with my family to Tucson, Arizona due to its semblance to the Israeli desert. When my daughter left Tucson to pursue her own career, I started drawing the sculptures in my imagination. I really enjoy doing that, it’s like a sculpture you can hang on the wall. I intend at some point to produce clay and ceramic sculptures, but currently, I offer prints of my drawings as "wall sculptures". I hope people will enjoy them as much as I do.
